Healthy Apple Crumble

Ingredients:

Filling

  • 400g stewed apples
  • 2 tablespoons xylitol (or any low calorie sweetener/honey also works
  • Optional: You can replace the sweetener by using 3-5 dates which you stew with the apples

Topping

  • 30 grams almond flower
  • ¼ cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon xylitol (or any low calorie sweetener)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ tablespoon coconut oil, melted

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 170 degrees Celsius
  • For the filling:
    • Place all ingredients in a pot, including ½ cup of water and simmer gently for 5 minutes
    • Place the filling into a 22cm tart tin
  • For the topping:
    • Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl
    • Add the coconut oil and stir to combine
    • Sprinkle over the filling and bake in oven for 20-30 minutes or until topping is golden brown
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
